Whitty Grave Great Marlow- erected by grateful employer

 


Grave of Mary Whitty, erected by Miss Winford in honour of the faithful servant who had lived in her family 63 years! No date or age given or rather still visible but other sources suggest she died December 16 1795 aged 82 . Mrs [Sarah] Winford lived at Thames Bank house with her unmarried daughter Harriet, the "Miss" mentioned above. The Winfords also erected at least two other stones in honour of a servant. 



This grave is at All Saints. Sarah Winford is herself buried in her family vault in Worcestershire. Read about Sarah's troubles with Thames bargeman here and see another Winford servant grave here
