John Hogg, Wesleyan Minster


In loving memory of John Hogg (Wesleyan Minister) who died April 23rd 1897. Aged 51 years.

Grave in Holy Trinity church (C of E).

Notes:

John became the Wesleyan minister for Great Marlow in 1891. He was also responsible for preaching at Lane End. He came to the town from being the minister at Ashford, Kent though he was of Middlesex origin. He also served as minister for Ticehurst, Sussex and Richmond in Yorkshire. The 1871 census saw him as a theological student in Manchester*. His wife was Mary. Known children= Louisa, Robert and William junior. 

William the minister suffered a protracted death, already being seriously ill in the early spring of 1896. The Wesleyans did not have their own burial ground hence his burial at Holy Trinity C of E church.
