Old Armchair, High Street (Thanks to information from Andrew Mullis we understand that this pub was previously called the New Inn).
1881- Elizabeth Cutler. She was also a lace maker. Previously at the New Inn but this appears to be the same premises, just with the name changed.
1885- Charles Mead temporarily, then Benjamin Stocks to George Tilbury then he to Daniel Lyford all in one year. Rapid turnovers of landlords were common in the past.
1888- John Lyford
1900- Edwin J Day
1900-02 Thomas Williamson
1902-03 Charles Wackett / Wackitt
1903-06 Frederick Crump. Came from running the Cherry Tree pub in Dean Street Marlow. Also a blacksmith.
1906 Thomas Trinder, briefly. Later at Chairmaker's Arms Lane End.
1909 : referred for closure under local authority powers to limit the number of pubs in an area. They say there's 5 other licenced premises within 92 yards of this one, the property is in very bad condition and there isn't a bar, only a tap room. The licensee then is said to have kept a general shop too. Weller's of Amersham are the brewers.
Old Inn
Bit of a mystery this one! Is he actually at the Old Sun? Almost certainly.
1887- Frederick Goodchild. See above
Old Sun AKA The Rising Sun (Be aware of the Rising Sun in Chapel Str Marlow too)
1833- Thomas Plummer. Premises then had a yard, skittle ground, stable and garden attached worth a combined £10 10 shillings.

1851 - George Haines?
1871 - Elizabeth Haines?

1898 - 1 Mrs Goodchild. 2. Oscar Knoff (hold over). 3 Mr Piercey.
1900- Many complaints as to bad conduct reported in the South Bucks Standard 28th December.
1903 - E Piercey
1905 "Olde Sun" Edward Albert Piercy to Noah Stone.
(1911 Benjamin Thomas Prue ?)
1915- John Austin
1915-23 A. E Stevens [Albert Ernest]. He was a beerseller 1911 Kelly's Post Office directory which also lists Benjamin Prue so he must have been selling beer already elsewhere before he took over from Benjamin. Albert probably died 1923.
1939- David George Fall
Lots more Lane End landlords to come. Take a look at the Pub Related option on the top drop down menu for what is already on the blog. Use the "Nearby Places" option for other Lane End posts.
