William Sparks / Sparkes Grave Great Marlow - Pub landlord

Very worn - reads - William Sparks died Dec (31st?) 1875

Age 6...? [He was 66]

William was landlord at various times of The Barge Pole, Black Boy and Fisherman's Retreat pubs (the latter became more of a hotel and well heeled boarding house). His wife was Maria who died after him. It's possible that she is also mentioned on this grave as it's badly worn where her name may be. Sparks is the spelling chosen on the grave, but in local records it often includes an e near the end. [Maria died in the Almshouses  August 1893 age 74 - Death notice South Bucks Standard 22 August 1893]
